Weber State Women Win Cat-Fight

“Weber State is a good team, but we need to do a better job of making adjustments on an offense which is pretty much the same every time down the court,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We need to challenge ourselves more during the week so that we can find some consistency on game day.”
Weber State (11-9, 5-2) jumped out early to a 21-10 lead at the 10:23 mark of the first half following a Tashina Taylor jumper. The Wildcats entered intermission with a 39-27 advantage.
In the second half, Montana State (2-17, 1-6) went scoreless until the 14:44 mark when Erin Goodman converted a three-pointer to make the score 50-30. The Bobcats would get no closer the rest of the game.
“The one positive that we’ll take away from this game is the play of our bench,” Binford said. “They came in and contributed.”
MSU received 22 points and 17 rebounds from its reserves.
WSU was led by Laura Porter and Shantee Releford with 19 and 13 points, respectively.
Scotta Morton was the only Bobcat in double-figures with 11 points.
Weber State won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Montana State 35-29. The Bobcats were paced under the glass by Whitney Connolly and Anne Phippard with six and five rebounds, respectively.
MSU will play at Montana on Friday night.
