Bobcat Golfers Move Up, Finish Sixth

Kelly Guillum got back on track with a closing round 76 to help Montana State move up five spots and finish sixth at Northern Arizona's Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday in Sedona, Ariz.
Gillum answered Saturday's 86, her highest round of the season, with a 76 to lead MSU to its strong finish. The Bobcats jumped over four teams on Sunday. "This was definitely an improvement today," Basye said. "We had several good rounds, so hopefully our confidence is up heading into our tournament next week."
Three Bobcats made drastic improvements in the second and final round. Kylie Anderson posted her best round of the spring, a 77, after Saturday's 82, which was also an improvement over MSU's opening tournament a week ago. Stephani Simmons improved by seven strokes, to 77, as well. The team's sixth-place finish is its best of the 2005-06 season, and its two-round total of 653 is a 20-stroke improvement over last week's two-round event at Cal-Riverside.
The Bobcats host a tournament next Monday and Tuesday in Goodyear, Ariz. MSU results follow...
