Montana State finishes the 2006 regular season with a flourish this weekend, playing at Portland State on Thursday and Eastern Washington Saturday, before returning to Bozeman for Senior Night on Monday against Sacramento State. With entry into the Big Sky Tournament guaranteed, the tourney’s site (NAU or Montana) and MSU’s seeding (anywhere from second to fifth), have not. While the Bobcats fight for seeding which affords the team either a bye (second place) or a first-round home game (third or fourth), PSU looks to lock up a tourney berth, and Eastern fights to finish as high as second.

On the Idaho game: “We got in a rhythm offensively, and it helped that Nick (Dissly) and Marvin (Moss) got going. Al (Beye) had a solid night, he’s been our most consistent player during the conference season. We needed a win, we needed a little confidence heading down the stretch, so playing that non-conference game worked out well for us.” On Portland State: “You have to give Portland State a lot of credit, they have lost a lot of close games but they continue to play good basketball, and they’re playing very hard. They’re fighting to get into the tournament, so we know they’ll be ready to play on Thursday. Portland State has a good inside-outside attack with Jake Schroeder, who is an outstanding perimeter shooter, and Anthony Washington and Scott Morrison, who are strong inside.” On the Bobcats: “Portland State and Eastern Washington are two teams playing pretty darned well right now. We know we’ll have our work cut out for us. With Al and Marvin playing well inside we have a chance to be a good inside-out team, but we need to keep making shots. I like the balance we showed on Saturday.”
