Men’s Basketball

Current Record: 6-5, 14-12 (4th place, Big Sky)
The MSU men split at home this week, losing first to league leader NAU 73-82 on Thursday. Al Beye scored 23 points to lead MSU scorers, adding to his hot streak of averaging 20.5 points in the last four games. On Saturday, MSU won its inaugural ESPN Bracket Buster game against WAC opponent Idaho, 79-69. Senior center Beye again led MSU with 22 points and nine rebounds while Marvin Moss added 20 points and five rebounds. MSU shot 61 percent for the game.
The Bobcats finish the regular season with two conference games on the road and Senior Night at home on Monday, Feb. 27. The Bobcats can climb as high as second place in the Big Sky going into the conference tournament schedule. Currently, the Bobcats sit in fourth place, one game behind Eastern Washington and two games behind Montana. MSU honors four seniors Monday, Feb. 27. Making their final regular season appearance at Worthington Arena will be Al Beye, Taylor Pratt, Marvin Moss, and Ja’Ron Jefferson.

The Bobcat women posted their first road win this week in an overtime thriller against Sacrament State on Saturday, 86-80. The win snapped MSU’s 10-game road losing streak and kept the women in the hunt for a playoff spot in the conference tournament. Junior Whitney Connolly scored a career high 28 points in the game to lead the Cats. On Thursday the women lost to league leader Northern Arizona. Freshman Jenny Herringer led the team with 13 points.
Women’s Golf

2/10-13: placed 7th at the Lady Braveheart Classic at UC-Riverside
The MSU women golfers opened their spring season last week at UC-Riverside with a strong seventh place finish in the Lady Braveheart Classic. Kelly Gillum shot a final round 75 to lift the Bobcats from eighth to seventh place. Gillum shot a 156 for the two-round event. The women travel to Flagstaff this week for the 2006 Red Rocks Invitational. The 13-team field includes conference foes Montana, host NAU and Portland State.
Skiing

The NCAA Regional event this week is the last chance for skiers to qualify for the national championships. The NCAA National Championships for both Nordic and Alpine skiing are in Steamboat Springs, Colorado March 9-12. According to head Alpine ski coach Dan Breslford, MSU could qualify several skiers for the championships.

The MSU men made it 16 consecutive victories over rival Montana with their win at home on Feb. 18. Senior Tejeshwara Chigateri sparked the victory with a 6-1, 6-1 straight set victory in the number three singles. In the 6-1 win over Lewis and Clark, Federico Ueltschi led the Bobcats in a straight set victory at the number one singles spot.

Erin Jones-Graf posted a school record 3,928 pentathlon points at the Bobcat Open on Friday, the 14th-best mark in the nation in 2006. Jones-Graf led a strong group of Bobcats, which included a dozen event winners, in MSU's last tune-up before the Big Sky Championships this week in Flagstaff. Torey Scheafer won two events for the Bobcats, capturing the 55 and 200.
