Injury Report:
True freshman Nubia Garcia has been sidelined for four weeks after having her knee scoped. She is listed as doubtful for this weekend’s games.
That Was The Week That Was:
Montana State dropped a pair of Big Sky Conference road games, last weekend. Eastern Washington handed the Bobcats a 77-50 setback on Thursday, as three Eagles hit for double-figures. EWU held a commanding 44-29 advantage in rebounding and shot 53 percent from the field, while limiting the Bobcats to 28 percent from the floor. The Bobcats were paced in the loss by Scotta Morton and Alyssa Nelson with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Nelson also added a team-best four steals, while freshman Jenny Heringer added six points and five assists. On Saturday, the Bobcats almost came through with their first road victory of the season; however, Portland State held on for a 75-73 win in the Stott Center. Nelson had an outstanding effort for MSU with a career-high 29 points, connecting on 11-of-18 from the field. In addition, she dished out three assists and added two steals. Also in double-figures for the Bobcats were Morton and Heringer with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Sophomore reserve Katy Proietti came off the bench to notch a team-high nine rebounds in only 13 minutes of action. For the game, MSU shot 49 percent from the field, while holding the Vikings to 47 percent. MSU recorded 27 turnovers in the loss.
Stat of the Week:
The Bobcats out-rebounded Portland State 38-30. It was only the third time this season MSU has out-muscled its opponent under the boards.
The Scouting Report:
Idaho State is 9-10 overall and 3-2 in Big Sky Conference play, after defeating Weber State 82-81 in overtime, last Thursday night in Ogden. Sophomore Natalie Doma paced ISU with 29 points and nine rebounds, en route to being named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week. In all, four Bengals average in double-figures, led by Andrea Lightfoot at 17.3 points per game, and followed by Doma 16.9, Danica Boyce 11.3 and Jeni Boesel 11.2 Idaho State ranks second in the nation in 3-point field goals made at 8.2 per contest. In addition, ISU is 10th in the nation, scoring 78.3 points per game.
