Montana State University's Athletic Scholarship Association is receiving an overhaul when the New Year dawns next month, MSU Athletic Director Peter Fields said, but its goal remains unchanged. The organization becomes the Bobcat Club beginning in 2007.
"We're always looking for ways to improve, and we believe this increased the recognition factor and visibility," Fields said. "At the same time, this more closely ties our fund-raising efforts to the Bobcat student-athletes it benefits."
Under the name Bobcat Club, the MSU-ASA continues to raise money that funds scholarships for student-athletes competing on Montana State's 15 varsity sports teams. Bobcat student-athletes have maintained a combined grade point average of better than 3.0 for 11 consecutive semesters, and won five conference titles in the last two school years.
The Bobcat Club and its special events raised over $750,000 in scholarship money for MSU student-athletes in 2005-06.
