Bobcat Women Hit Free Throws to Down Aggies

Connolly, a senior from Ennis, recorded 16 points and 12 rebounds to pace Montana State (4-4). In addition, Connolly hit 12-of-15 from the free throw line.
Also in double-figures for the Bobcats was Rebecca Mercer with 13 points.
Despite shooting only 32 percent from the field, MSU held a 29-10 advantage in free throw makes.
“It wasn’t the prettiest game, but we got the job done when we got to the line,” Binford said. “Everyone had an opportunity to contribute and we’re happy with the win.”
With the victory the Bobcats surpassed their win total from last season when the squad went 3-23 overall.
Montana State raced to an early 17-4 lead at the 12:14 mark of the first half on an Anne Phippard field-goal. The Bobcats built its largest margin at 26-8 with 6:28 remaining following a Mercer layup.
Utah State (2-5) answered with a 16-5 run to enter intermission trailing 31-24.
In the second stanza, USU closed to within 33-28 on a Lindsey Freeze jumper. MSU responded with 9-4 run to go up 46-37 with 9:55 remaining, and the Aggies would get no closer.
Utah State was paced by Danyelle Snelgro with 16 points.

The game was marred by a combined 49 turnovers and 48 fouls.
Montana State will host Montana-Western on Dec. 14 at 7:05 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
