“It was a great win,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “Now the challenge is to string a few wins together. We didn’t have everyone firing on all cylinders, and we still got the job done.”
With the victory, Montana State (3-3) matched last season’s win total.
The Bobcats never trailed in the game and held a 30-21 advantage at halftime.

Leading 59-51 following a Whitney Connolly three-pointer with 7:44 left, WSU closed to within 61-60 with 2:25 remaining on a pair of Dani Montgomery free throws.
The Bobcats converted 9-of-12 free throws down the stretch, including a 7-of-10 effort from freshman Erica Perry, to secure the victory.
“I thought Erica Perry had an outstanding game, offensively,” Binford said. “She was able to get to the basket and she did a nice job dishing the ball on penetration.”
Nelson, a 5-6 point guard, connected on 7-of-14 from the field, and added four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Also in double-digits for MSU were Nubia Garcia 14, Perry 13, and Krislyn Wallace 12. Wallace also paced the Bobcats under the boards with a team-high six rebounds.
For the game, the Bobcats shot 46 percent from the field, while holding Washington State (1-5) to 33 percent, including an icy 24 percent in the opening stanza. The Cougars held a 43-40 advantage in rebounding.
WSU had three players in double-figures, led by Nakejia Kelly with 11 points.
Montana State will host Portland on Monday night in Worthington Arena.
