Fresno State's Pressure Smothers Cats

Fresno State used suffocating pressure on defense, forcing 27 Bobcat turnovers en route to an 80-41 win over Montana State on Wednesday.
MSU coach Brad Huse said it was hard to account for the effect of Fresno's pressure on defense. "I liked the way we started the game," Huse said, "but then you look up at halftime and we have 15 turnovers. They're not necessarily a team that gets out in the passing lanes, but they're just so long and so quick that it's hard to operate."
The Bulldogs limited Montana State to 28% shooting on the night, including just 3-for-17 from three-point range. "They make up for any mistakes they make with athleticism," Huse said. "They make threes, they penetrate, they just don't have any weaknesses."
The Bobcats owned one advantage on the night, out-rebounding the Bulldogs. "I give our guys credit, we crashed the boards hard," Huse said. "That hurt us at times because they got five-on-two and five-on-three advantages at times, but I'm really pleased with our effort there. That gives me an idea from an effort standpoint that we played hard."
Ted Morris led the Bobcats with nine points and 13 rebounds, his fourth double-digit rebounding game in seven outings. Mecklen Davis scored a career-high seven points for MSU. The Bobcats play Wyoming in Billings on Saturday at 7:05 pm.
