Championships
The Montana State defense shined on Saturday leading the Bobcats to a 31-13 victory over Furman in the first round of the Division 1 Football Playoffs at Bobcat Stadium. A noisy, Bobcat crowd became the 12th man, as Furman was forced to call a timeout in the first half because of the stadium noise level. The Bobcats held the Palladins, one of the top rushing teams in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision, to 105 total net rushing yards. Attendance at Saturday’s game was 9,427.

After facing second-ranked Montana to close the regular season, Montana State faces the nation's top-ranked team for the first time since the 2002 playoff loss at McNeese State. Montana State travels to Appalachian State Saturday to face the FCS Playoffs' first seed and the nation's top-ranked team at 4 pm EST/2 pm MST. MSU faces its second straight Southern Conference foe - and only its second SoConn opponent ever - on ESPN2. Tickets are available at the Bobcat ticket office. Travel packages to the game can be purchased through the Travel Station in Bozeman.

Montana State hits the road this week to take on unbeaten Fresno State. The Bulldogs, who play in the WAC conference, are under the direction of second-year coach Steve Cleveland. Fresno State was 15-13 last season and returns all five starters from their 2005-06 squad. The ‘Cats return home, of sorts, to the annual Border War against Wyoming played at the Billings Metra. The game tips off at 7:00 p.m., Dec. 2. Tickets are available from the Metra box office at www.metrapark.com. or by calling 406-256-2400. Tickets are priced at $60 courtside, $35 VIP, $20 regular reserved, and $8 for general admission seating. Courtside and VIP tickets include admission to the pre-game tailgate party at 5 pm. Discounts offered for students through college age: $5 for general admission. (Tickets required for age 3 and over).

11/26 – lost to Oregon State, 72-63
The Bobcats won handily at home against Frontier conference foe, UM-Western, 84-59. Branden Johnson led the Bobcats with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Dissly added 14, while Morris scored 10 and grabbed a game-high six rebounds.
On Sunday, Oregon State player Marcel Jones scored 24 points and the Beavers forced 21 Bobcat turnovers as OSU topped Montana State 72-63 in Bozeman. Jones' performance overshadowed an outstanding day by MSU forward Nick Dissly, who scored 22 points with three steals and three assists. Dissly and MSU center Ted Morris, who grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, combined to shoot 14-for-20 from the field and score 36 of MSU's 63 points. The rest of the team shot 10-for-37 from the field.

Bobcat women hit the road this week to face Pac 10 foe Washington State University in Pullman. The Cougars are currently 1-4 with a win over Big Sky foe Sacramento State. WSU lost three starters from last year’s team that finished 8-20. On Monday, Dec. 4, MSU hosts University of Portland. The Pilots are 5-2 in the West Coast Conference, and return one of the WCC’s top players in Rachel Warren who averaged 12.4ppg, 7.5rpg in the 2005-06 season.

11/25-lost to NDSU in Wingate Tourney final, 62-74
Montana State shot 53 percent from the field and tied a school-record with 31 assists as the Bobcats cruised to an 86-63 win over Cal State Fullerton, Friday night in the opening round of the Wingate Inn Thanksgiving Classic. Whitney Connolly paced the Bobcats coming off the bench to record game-high 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Also in double-figures were Krislyn Wallace 16, Nubia Garcia 13 and Rebecca Mercer 13. North Dakota State used its inside strength to power past the Montana State women’s basketball team 74-62 in the championship game of the Wingate Inn Thanksgiving Classic, Saturday night. MSU was paced by Rebecca Mercer with 18 points, including a 7-of-7 effort from the free throw line. Also in double-digits were Nubia Garcia and Alyssa Nelson with 14 points, apiece.
