Bobcats Slip Past Western

Brad Huse had a feeling it would be like this.
"These are hard games," Montana State's first-year head coach said after the Bobcats' 84-59 win over Montana-Western on Wednesday night in Bozeman. "We didn't execute well at times, but they played hard and hit some shots."
MSU held a one-point lead at the intermission, getting two stops in the last minute of the half to maintain the advantage, but Nick Dissly hit a three-pointer and a layup to open the second half and help the 'Cats maintain control.
"I thought we could wear them down in the second half," Huse said, "and that played through."
Montana State took charge of the game for the final time when Carlos Taylor hit a pair of free throws at 14:52 to key a 14-0 run. Branden Johnson's three-pointer and layup and a jumper by Adrian Zamora finished that run at the 10:58 mark, and Western never got within double-digits again.
Western out-rebounded the Bobcats 43-39, largely on the strength of 22 offensive boards. "When you have a teamt that shoots long threes the rebounds are a little crazy," Huse said. "That's not an excuse, we still have to go get them. We need someone other than Ted (Morris) that really wants to get get them."
Branden Johnson led the Bobcats with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Dissly added 14, while Morris scored 10 and grabbed a game-high six rebounds.
Montana State hosts Pac 10 foe Oregon State Sunday in Worthington Arena. Tipoff is 1 pm.
