The wait was worth it. The Bobcats host Furman of the Southern Conference at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 25.
Just 20 hours after a disappointing loss to Big Sky Champion Montana that dimmed Montana State's 2006 Football Championship Series Playoff chances, the Bobcats' season was resuscitated Sunday morning when MSU was chosen as a first-round host.
Bobcat season ticket holders may reserve their seats beginning Sunday afternoon until noon on Tuesday. At that point, ASA members will have an opportunity to buy tickets until 5:00. Beginning at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, tickets will be available to the general public. Tickets may be purchased at the ticket office, or by calling 994-2287.
MSU's entry into the FCS Championships also ends a 22-year wait by Bobcat fans for a home playoff game. MSU last hosted a post-season game in Bobcat Stadium on December 8, 1984, when MSU topped Rhode Island to advance to the I-AA Championship Game. MSU beat Louisiana Tech a week later for its third and most recent national title.

The men’s basketball team tips off a busy week of athletic events with a home game Wed. night against NAIA opponent UM-Western from Dillon. Western has a 2-3 record. On Sunday, the ‘Cats take on Pac-10 foe Oregon State. The Beavers are currently 3-3 with wins over Portland, Cal Poly and St. Martin’s. The Beavers return junior small forward Marcel Jones, junior power forward Sasa Cuic and senior center Kyle Jeffers. The three combined to average 29.0 points, 15.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks last year.

11/19 – won at Idaho, 72-65
Against Portland, Carlos Taylor led the Bobcats with 19 points on the strength of 6-for-7 shooting from three-point range, and MSU hit a season-high nine triples. But the Bobcats struggled from the charity stripe, hitting just 5-of-11 in the second half and 6-of-12 for the game.
Montana State's win over Idaho was its seventh straight against a former league rival, but more importantly marked MSU's first win of the season. Center Ted Morris logged a double-double for the 'Cats, scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 boards.

The Bobcats host the Wingate Tourney in Worthington Arena Nov. 24-25. Games are scheduled at 5:00 and 7:30 both nights. On Friday, UT-Arlington squares off against NDSU at 5:00 and the ‘Cats take on Cal State-Fullerton at 7:30. Losers will play Saturday at 5:00 and winners will follow at 7:30.

The Montana State women’s basketball team rebounded from its disappointing season-opening loss to Montana Tech, overcoming a 12-point second half deficit to notch a 78-68 victory over Long Beach State, Friday night. Senior Whitney Connolly notched 17 points on seven-of-eight from the field. She completed the double-double with a team-high ten rebounds, to go along with three blocked shots. Junior college transfer Rebecca Mercer also recorded 17 points, while adding six assists. On Sunday, the Beavers used a strong second half to notch a 69-62 win over the Bobcats at OSU. Nubia Garcia and Rebecca Mercer paced Montana State with 13 points, apiece, while Whitney Connolly came off the bench to chip in 11 points on five-of-nine shooting. Garcia, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, completed a double-double with a team-high ten rebounds..
