Bobcats to Partner with Learfield
11/16/2006 12:00:00 AM | General
Montana State University announced today that it
has selected Learfield Sports as its exclusive athletics marketing partner
through 2011. This move marks the first time for MSU to outsource these
rights.
The five-year agreement calls for Dallas-based Learfield Sports to
administer MSU Athletics' multimedia rights effective with the 2007-'08
academic year and to operate under the name "Bobcat Sports Properties".
Under contract terms, Learfield Sports will oversee live television
broadcasts and television coaches shows, live radio play-by-play broadcasts
and coaches' radio shows, facility signage, corporate hospitality, print
sponsorships, event marketing, corporate sponsorships and official athletic
Web site advertising.
"I'm looking forward to the opportunities Learfield presents us,"
said MSU Athletic Director Peter Fields. "They work with schools across the
country, and their national contacts will be beneficial to Montana State
University. This partnership will help our programs grow and will provide
tremendous exposure for Bobcat Athletics. Many people have worked hard to
build a solid base in our corporate partner program and our radio and
television networks. Because of this hard work, we are able and pleased to
partner with Learfield Communications for future growth."
"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with Montana
State," said Learfield Sports President Greg Brown. "We look forward to
working closely with Peter Fields and the entire athletics administration
and want to officially welcome the Bobcats to our Learfield Sports' family."
In addition to Montana State, Learfield Sports manages multimedia
rights for nearly 30 collegiate institutions and associations including
Army, Clemson, Idaho, Tulsa, Minnesota, Miami, North Carolina, and the Black
Coaches Association (BCA) and provides exclusive sports programming to more
than 1,000 radio stations throughout the country. The company also recently
announced an extension with Oregon State University through 2019 and a
brand-new,10-year relationship with San Diego State University.
Learfield Sports is a division of Jefferson City, Mo.-based
Learfield Communications, Inc., which made its initial foray into the world
of sports marketing in 1975 as the radio rights holder for the University of
Missouri, a client still today. For more information and complete portfolio
