Billings West Distance Standout Signs with Bobcats

“Carly has credentials of success,” Kennedy said. “She is having an outstanding high school career and we’re really excited to sign a student-athlete of her caliber.”
Selleck, a three-time all-state selection in track and field/cross country, placed seventh at this fall’s State AA cross country championship. She was third as a sophomore and ninth as a freshman. Due to an injury, she missed the 2005 meet.
In addition, Selleck was named West’s most valuable performer in 2003 and 2004, while garnering most inspirational honors in 2005.
An outstanding track athlete, as well, Selleck was the 2006 State AA champion at 3200-meters, and was second at 1600-meters. As a sophomore, she finished second at 200m and third at 1600m.
Selleck holds the Billings West school record of 11:20 in the 3200-meters, set in 2006. She has a personal best of 5:12 in the mile. Selleck helped the Golden Bears to the State AA team title, last season.
Selleck also lettered in swimming and guided BWHS to the 2003 and 2004 state titles.
“We’re excited for her to play a major role in cross country and track and field,” Kennedy said. “She will add to a thin roster in the distance area and is the first signee of three or four we need to bolster our line-up.”
Selleck ran for former Montana State middle distance specialist Chris Blomquist at Billings West. She is also an outstanding student with a 3.78 grade-point average. Selleck plans to major in cell biology/neuroscience at MSU.
She is the daughter of Tom and Michelle Selleck of Billings.
