Golfers Travel to Final Fall Invite

Nine teams will compete in the event on one of the most prestigious courses in Canada, the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club, home of the 2005 Bell Canadian Open PGA Tour Event.
“This is a great event for our ladies,” head coach Brittany Bayse said. “It’s one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses we play and gives them a chance to see some schools we don’t normally see.” MSU is the only Big Sky Conference school in the event hosted by the University of British Columbia. Other schools include Santa Clara University, LC State, Oklahoma City University, Concordia University (Oregon), St. Martins, and the University of Victoria.
The Bobcat team includes junior Kelly Gillum, junior Stephanie Simmons, sophomore LaRae Smith, sophomore Shannon Donegan, and junior Kate Steffanich. Gillum has paced the ‘Cats in all but one meet so far this fall, and is coming off a 13th place at last week’s tough Boise Invite.
This is the final golf invite of the fall season. The 36-hole event begins on Sunday and concludes on Monday.
The conference spring season begins for the ‘Cats March 3, 2007 at Northern Arizona and concludes Apr. 16-17 with the Big Sky Tournament.
