BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Erin Jones posted a multi-event 55 meter personal best in the pentathlon and Brad Benjamin logged a fisrt-day personal best in the heptathlon at Montana State's Multi-Event Meet on Monday.
Jones, a Bobcat senior, finished with 3,772 points, a mark that provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
MSU multi-event coach Tom Eitel said Jones performed well. "That's Erin's second-best score ever, and it's a great way to start her indoor season," Eitel said. "She had two really good events and three solid events." Jones finished first of five in the event.
Senior Brad Benjamin scored 2,833 first-day points to lead an all-MSU men's field. The mark is his best ever after one day of competition. "Brad is off to a good start," Eitel said. "He really had some good marks."
The men's heptathlon events conclude in Worthington Arena Tuesday.
