Bobcats Skiers Remain in Sixth Place

The alpine portion of the UAA Invite will be held Jan. 11-12 in Park City, Utah.
After two events, Denver sits atop the standings with 282 points, followed by UAA 272, Utah 258, Colorado 252, New Mexico 222, MSU 186, Nevada 119, Western State 118, Whitman 98, Wyoming 52 and Boise State 1.
The Montana State men’s squad had another strong showing, finishing fifth overall with 48 points. The Bobcats were guided by Mark Iverson, who finished tenth overall, covering the 10-kilometer race in 28:32.
Also contributing for the Bobcats were Chris Coe, 17th, 29:20; Tim Downey, 28th, 30:28; Nathan Park, 31st, 30:43; Daichi Ito, 37th, 31:31; and Patrick Carroll, 44th, 32:40.
UAA’s Kjetil Hagtvedt Dammen won the men’s individual title in 26:15.
The MSU women also had its best performance of the season, recording 47 points. The Bobcats were paced by Claire Rennie, who finished tenth overall, covering the five-kilometer course in 16:33.
Rennie was followed by Mandy Bowden, 17th, 16:48; Fraiser Opel, 20th, 17:05; Ine Fahle, 27th, 17:27; Rachel Goldstein, 31st, 17:48; and Karoline Teien, 32nd, 17:50.
Whitman’s Laura Valaas won the women’s crown in a clocking of 15:50.
