Montana State Tennis Teams in Action

The Bobcat women will host three matches in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. MSU will open against Wyoming on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the Bobcats will face Utah State at 10 a.m., followed by Gonzaga, Sunday morning at 11:45 a.m.
“We’re excited to be at home,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “We had a super opening weekend, and we want to carry that momentum into this weekend. All three teams coming in are very good programs and will be battling for top honors in their conferences.”
The Bobcats, who were picked fourth in the preseason Big Sky Conference coach’s poll, will be led by the sophomore duo of Nuria Lozano and Nicole Luetolf, while seniors Vera Vasileva and Katy Clarke will also play a part in this weekend’s matches.
The Montana State men’s team opens their season on the road with an impressive preseason resume. MSU was picked first in the Big Sky preseason poll, after capturing the last two league crowns. In addition, the Bobcats received their first-ever preseason ranking in the ITA poll, coming in at No. 69.
The men will open at the University of Arizona on Friday, before facing Northern Arizona in Big Sky play on Saturday morning in Sedona, Ariz. They will conclude their road trip against New Mexico on Sunday in Tucson.
“We have a very experienced squad and we’re ready for the season to begin,” said MSU men’s coach Mike Phillips. “The opening weekend will be very challenging, including an early Big Sky match against Northern Arizona. The matches will give us a good indication of where we’re at, this early in the season.”
MSU will be led by two-time Big Sky MVP Federico Ueltschi, who posted 30 victories at No. 1 singles, last season.
