Bobcats Prep For League-Leading NAU

After winning its first league road game of the season, Montana State faces an even bigger challenge on Saturday, battling league-leading Northern Arizona in the Walkup Skydome at 6:05 pm. The Lumberjacks post phenomenal numbers, averaging 89.4 points a game in league play and shooting 54.6%, leading the Big Sky in both marks.

Saturday’s game tips off at 6:05 pm MST at Northern Arizona University. The game is broadcast on the Bobcat State Farm Radio Network in Bozeman, Billings and Helena, and worldwide on the internet via SportsJuice.com. The game is not televised.

Montana State is 37-34 against NAU all-time, 13-24 in Flagstaff. The Lumberjacks have the last two meetings with the ‘Cats in the Skydome, including an 84-61 thrashing a year ago.
Streaks, Starts ‘n’ Stuff
Montana State’s two-game road skein ended at Sacramento State on Thursday… the Bobcats also ended their six-game road losing streak at Sacramento State… MSU hit nine three-pointers on Thursday, the second straight game with fewer than 10… that streak comes on the heels of a four-game string with at least 10 treys… MSU outrebounded Sac State 39-to-34, the first time the ‘Cats grabbed more boards than an opponent in the last three games… the Bobcats committed fewer fouls than the opponent in nine straight games… the ‘Cats have not had more steals than the opponent in six straight games… Montana State has won four straight games against teams which, like the ‘Cats, wear blue and yellow.

The Bobcats head into the NAU game at nine players on the varsity squad after Taylor Pratt suffered a broken arm in the Montana game. Previously, the departure of point guards Branden Miller and Ryan Holmes was offset by the activation from redshirt of Jacques Wilson.

Casey Durham has converted 15 consecutive free throws, and 19 of his last 20… Al Beye blocked one shot at Sacramento State on Thursday, his 12th consecutive game with at least one block and his 14th block in the last five games… Marvin Moss scored 11 points on Thursday in spite of a 1-for-3 shooting night, converting 9-of-12 from the line, including the game-clinching free throws with 20 seconds to play… Moss also dished out six assists on Thursday, his fourth career game with that many helpers and his second in the last three outings… Ja’Ron Jefferson scored 22 points to lead the Bobcats at Sac State, his fourth game over 20 points in the last five… Jefferson stands third in the Big Sky in scoring, averaging 18.8 points per conference contest, and shoots 59% from three-point range, fifth in the league… his 3.25 made per game is second in conference contests… Al Beye and Ted Morris combined to shoot 0-for-4 from the free throw line Thursday, while the rest of the team was 15-for-20… Casey Durham, who five weeks ago was a backup two guard, is now third in the league with 5.3 assists a game in league contests, while Marvin Moss is fourth with 4.0 helpers an outing.
