Bobcat Women’s Tennis Team Opens Season at Vandy

MSU will also play Michigan State on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by Lipscomb University on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Whitworth Tennis Center.
Last season, the Bobcats posted a 12-13 overall record and a 4-2 Big Sky Conference slate. The Bobcats return six letterwinners, including four of its top six performers.
Guiding the Bobcats is a pair of sophomores, who competed at Nos. 1 and 2 singles last spring. Nuria Lozano and Nicole Luetolf combined for a 29 victories in singles play as freshmen.
“We’re excited for the season to begin,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “We’re still a relatively young squad, so it’ll be interesting to see how everyone responds to playing one of the top teams in the country in our very first match.”
Vanderbilt finished the 2005 season ranked No. 8 in the final polls. The Commodores posted a 22-6 overall record. Michigan State is coming off an 11-12 mark, while Lipscomb posted a 7-15 mark
