Bobcats Fall to Cal Poly

Cal Poly scored all the points it would need on two defensive touchdowns, extending its winning streak to seven over Montana State with a 38-10 win on Saturday.
The Mustang defense held MSU to 320 yards, forcing three Bobcat turnovers. Poly rang up 417 yards, incuding 180 through the air by quarterback Anthony Garnett.
"We just made too many mistakes to overcome," said MSU coach Mike Kramer. "We melted down a little on offense. We gave them two touchdowns in a game where we couldn't afford to give them anything. Credit to Cal Poly, they kicked our butt."
Montana State's defense held Cal Poly without a score in the first quarter, but the Mustangs' vaunted defense opened the scoring with under a minute left. Courtney Brown intercepted a Travis Lulay pass and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown. On Cal Poly's next possession, Anthony Garnett scored from one yard out to put MSU in a 14-0 hole.
Lulay answered with MSU's only scoring drive, an 80-yard march capped by a 21-yard touchdown pass to Michael Bass. The Musta defense essentially took the game over late in the first half, sacking Lulay in the Bobcat end zone and recovering the fumble for a touchdown.
"They beat us in every phase of the game," Kramer said. "They didn't allow us to get anything going in the kicking game, they made our rookies in the defensive line look like rookies, and they really forced us into mistakes offensively."
