Earlier in the day, No. 14 Missouri downed Wisconsin 3-0 to win the tournament title.
Wisconsin (5-1) was led in the win by Audra Jeffers with 17 kills, a .467 attack mark and three blocks. UW out-blocked Montana State (5-5), and was led by Taylor Reinke with a match-high ten stuffs.
“I was happy with the way we competed in the first two games,” said Bobcat head coach Miya Malauulu. “I’m disappointed that we folded our tents in the third game. That’s something we need to work on this week in practice.”
MSU was paced by Kim Stonehouse, who tallied seven kills and 13 digs.
Missouri setter Lindsey Hunter earned tournament MVP honors, while Stonehouse, Abby Mayne of Northern Colorado, Jackie Simpson and Audra Jeffers of Wisconsin and Na Yang and Jessica Vander Kooi of Missouri were named to the all-tournament team.
MSU will play at the University of Nevada tournament next weekend against the Wolf Pack, No. 21 California and Akron.
