Big Sky Preseason Coaches Poll

For the fourth-straight year, the Northern Arizona men’s cross country team has been predicted to win the 2005 conference title, while Weber State has been chosen to win the women’s title.
The Wildcat women edged out Northern Arizona after earning four first place votes and 46 points. Weber State placed second behind Northern Arizona in the 2004 Big Sky Championship.
The Lumberjacks finished with three first place votes and 45 points, while Montana State followed with one first place vote and 38 points. Montana finished fourth with 28 points while Idaho State finished fifth with 26. Portland State and Eastern Washington both earned 16 points, to tie for sixth place, while Sacramento State rounded out the voting with seven total points.
The Northern Arizona men have won nine of the last 11 Big Sky titles and finished 24th at the 2004 NCAA Championship. The ‘Jacks will look to defend their title from last year’s win in Bozeman where they finished with four runners in the top 10. Northern Arizona finished five points ahead of Weber State in the voting, earning six first place votes and 48 points.
The Wildcats grabbed two first place votes and finished with 43 points, while Idaho State came in third with 35 points. Montana State finished fourth with 30 points while Montana came in third with 24 points. Eastern Washington earned 21 points to place sixth, while Portland State finished seventh with 13 points. Sacramento State rounded out the voting with 8 points.
Voting is calculated by each team receiving seven points for a first place vote, six points for a second place vote, etc. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their respective teams. Below are the final results with the number of first place votes in parenthesis.
