No. 2 Washington hands Bobcats first loss

Washington (2-0) hit an impressive .566 for the match, while Montana State (2-1) hit .165. The Huskies, who returned four All-Americans from last year’s Final Four squad, committed only two hitting errors for the match. UW was paced by Brie Hagerty with 15 kills, while Christal Morrison added 13.
“We got better as the match progressed, but we were too intimidated by their ranking and didn’t compete from the start,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu.
The Bobcats were paced by Kim Stonehouse with nine kills and a .263 attack, while senior Megan Zanto added eight kills, a .467 attack mark and two blocks. Kandice Kelly had a team-high 11 digs.
“We’re still trying to find ourselves,” Malauulu said. “I think we tried a bit of everything this weekend, and we’ll keep experimenting until we find the right combination. That’s what preseason is all about. I’m very happy that we came away from the weekend 2-1.”
Montana State will play at the Brigham Young Tournament next weekend against BYU, Kansas and Utah Valley State.
