Bobcats Open Camp with 'D' in Spotlight

Mike Kramer knows who will be watching his Bobcat defense as camp unfolds over the next several weeks.
"Everyone," the sixth-year Montana State coach says with a knowing smile. "All eyes."
And Kramer is the first to admit he will be with the majority. "Our offense could play tomorrow," he said of his team's game preparedness. "With the defense, I don't know. The defense needs to regain its confidence, and that is done through time."
With a veteran linebacker corps in place, Kramer has openly identified the secondary and the defensive front as areas with the most improvement necessary. But, he says, hope exists.
"Playing defense is never about physical tools," Kramer says. "It's all about attitude. With Kahiam (Hunter) and Eddie (Smith) and Derrick Davis back (at cornerback), and with Chris Kolone's continued development, we have a chance to be a fine defense."
