Gantt Takes MSU-Northern AD Post

Gantt was the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations at Montana State University-Bozeman and will replace Byron Ophus who stepped down from his Athletic Director position in order to return to the classroom.
Gantt is no stranger to MSU-Northern as he was the Head Volleyball Coach and Physical Education Instructor for Northern in 1988-89, and was named in 1988 was named Frontier Conference Coach of the Year.
He left Northern to be the Assistant Volleyball Coach for the USA Men’s National Team. During that time he helped coach the 1991 Pan Am Games in Havana Cuba, the 1991 World League the 1990 World Championships in Rio De Janiero and the 1990 Good Will Games.
He went on to be Head Volleyball Coach at Oregon State University (1991-1993) and Montana State University-Bozeman (1994-2002). Since 2002 he has served as the Associate Director of External Operations at MSU.
Gantt holds a master’s degree in physical education from MSU and Bachelor’s of Science degree in business administration and physical education from the University of Great Falls
Thirty people applied for the position. The search committee was made up of six people with representatives from the faculty, administration, coaching staff and community.
