Bobcats Land Distance Standout from Utah

Former Flathead High and University of Utah distance standout Kurt Michels has transferred to Montana State, Bobcat Coach Dale Kennedy announced Wednesday.
Montana's 2001 state cross country champion, Michels led Kalispell to four straight cross country state titles, and won the 2001 state cross country and 2002 state 3200 m championships. He finished second in the 1600 m as a senior, also. He joins the MSU cross country and indoor and outdoor track squads as a junior.
"We have a very young distance group, and Kurt is a perfect fit for this program because of his experience and maturity," Kennedy said. "Kurt has a couple of cross country and track seasons under his belt, and Kurt can really offer us leadership."
