Bobcats Host Gage Meet Friday

Dale Kennedy can feel it coming.
Montana State's semi-annual (shared with the University of Montana) Tom Gage Open has become a haven for throwers and jumpers, a meet known for big performances in the field events, and Kennedy sees no reason that this year will be different.
"This is a meet that our throwers especially, but really all of our field event kids, really go off and get some great marks," Kennedy said. "We're gearing up for the conference meet (next weekend) so this meet comes at a perfect time."
While throwers and jumpers see marks soaring, track athletes use the meet as a training tool for next week's Big Sky meet, in Flagstaff, Ariz. May 11-14.
"We'll get some kids in off-events to help them train and get ready for the conference meet," he said.
While Kennedy is predicting nothing, he is excited about his teams' chances next weekend. "When you score it out on paper, it looks like an incredibly competitive meet. The Weber State women really have a commanding edge, and it would take something extraordinary for them not to win, but the race after that is very tight, and the men's race is very tight. It should be a great meet."
