Montana State Netters Down Lady Griz

Ivette Duran responded to the challenge and posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Montana’s Jonna Schwartz at No. 5 singles to hand the Bobcats a 4-3 decision over its intra-state rival.
“It was a close match the entire day,” said MSU women’s head coach Denise Albrecht. “I felt good that the match came down to No. 5 and 6 singles, and that we had a couple of veteran players on the court. Both Ivette and Katy Clarke did a super job of securing the victory.”
Montana opened the match winning the doubles point. MSU’s freshmen duo of Nuria Lozano and Nicole Luetolf won at No. 1 and 2 to give the Bobcats its first lead of the match. The Lady Griz countered winning at No. 3 and 4 to go up 3-2, before Duran and Clarke’s win gave Montana State the 4-3 win.
With the victory, Montana State is 9-11 overall and 2-1 in Big Sky play.
