Offense Rolls in Spring Finale

Justin Domineck rushed for 100 yards on 10 carries and Travis Lulay was nearly perfect, leading Montana State's offense to an impressive performance against an injury-riddled defense in the Sonny Holland Spring Scrimmage at Bobcat Stadium on Friday.
The 66-play scrimmage brought MSU's injury-riddled spring practice session to a close. "I'm glad to have it done, and glad that we have some time to heal," said MSU coach Mike Kramer. "We got some work done this spring, but it seems like everything we accomplished came in a long shadow cast by the injuries."
MSU's spring finale came without 24 varsity players who missed the session due to injury. Still, Kramer was pleased with the Bobcat offense. "Justin Domineck looked good today, he looked quick and sharp. Travis Lulay looks like what he is, an All-America quarterback ready for his senior season."
As he's done in all three of MSU's spring scrimmages, Lulay got off to a quick start. The Bobcat offense moved 65 yards on its first drive, with Justin Domineck tearing off a 56-yard run on the day's third play for a touchdown. The defense then registered three-and-out possessions on two of the next three series, although a pair of missed field goals kept the Bobcat offense off the board until the day's 10th drive, when Tyler Bolton nailed a 37-yard field goal.
On the next drive, Lulay moved the offense 68 yards for a score. Chaz Guinn caught four of his scrimmage-high six catches on that drive, and finished the day with 98 yards. "Chaz played well today," Kramer said. "He has the ability to be a steady contributor."
Bobcat defensive tackle Aaron Papich left his mark on the scrimmage. The sophomore from Great Falls had three sacks and another tackle-for-loss. "Aaron has made a tremendous amount of improvement this spring," Kramer said. "He's done an outstanding job, and he'll be an important player when we get our defense together and healthy in August."
