Montana State's opened a big weekend of tennis Friday morning with a 6-1 win over Idaho State at the Anderson Tennis Center in Bozeman.
Montana State's only blemish came in the no. three singles match, in which Vera Vasileva led 6-0, 6-5 before retiring with leg cramps. MSU won all three doubles matches to take the doubles point, and swept the remainder of the singles matches.
"The girls played very well," said MSU coach Denise Albrecht. "They played with a lot of heart. They just keep fighting and don't let anything distract them."
The Bobcats are fighting for the second seed in next week's Big Sky Tennis Championships, but Albrecht said that is not in her team's mind. "We try not to think about the conference meet, we just take it one moment at a time."
