Munteanu Sisters Have Bobcat Skiers in 12th at NCAA Championships

Smaranda Munteanu finished 14th in the women’s giant slalom race with a two-run clocking of 2:02.18, while older sister Alex Munteanu placed 27th in a clocking of 2:38.18, after a miscue on the second-run. The elder Munteanu was sitting 15th after the first run.
Jamie Kingsbury of Vermont won the women’s giant slalom title with a time 1:55.03.
MSU men’s qualifier Cory Harris did not finish the second run of the men’s giant slalom race, which was won by Vermont’s Greg Hardy in a two-run time of 1:45.49.
After the opening day, Vermont leads the team standings with 216 points. The Catamounts are followed by Colby 186, Denver 173, Utah 154, Dartmouth 150, Middlebury 122, Williams 117, New Mexico 111, Colorado 86, Nevada 85, New Hampshire 84, Montana State 45, Boise State 44, Alaska-Anchorage 39, and Western State 29.
