Montana State Skiers Ready for NCAA Championships

The Bobcats qualified eight of the maximum 12 skiers for the national meet. The number of qualifiers is the most in school history.
The NCAA meet will begin with the women’s giant slalom event, followed by the men’s race. Nordic events will take place Thursday and Saturday, while the slalom championship will be decided on Friday.
“We’re ready to go,” said Dan Brelsford, MSU’s director of skiing. “We’ve set a goal to finish among the top 10 in the nation, and that is something we can accomplish if we get everyone firing on all cylinders.”
Racing on Wednesday in the giant slalom will be sisters Alex and Smaranda Munteanu, while Cory Harris is the only men’s representative in the alpine events. Qualifying in the Nordic races are Emily Robins, Amanda Bowden, Karoline Teien and Mark Iverson.
Last winter, the Bobcats finished 15th overall at the national championships.
