Bobcats Hope to Begin Spring Drills Wednesday

Mike Kramer hopes that spring will finally start for the Montana State football program on Wednesday.
After a week of delays caused by weather and personnel issues, the Bobcats take to the field at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, barring further weather troubles, for the first practice of Kramer's sixth spring. The long-time Bobcat head coach -- Kramer joins Ott Romney as the fourth-longest tenured head coaches in school history this season -- says his team's progress during the next three weeks is crucial.
"This is as important a time as this program has faced in a number of years," Kramer said. "We must re-tool our defense and ensure that offensively we continue to move forward and improve on our outstanding season last year. We need to get some work done this spring, that's why I wanted the conditions to be perfect when we start."
Among Kramer's primary concerns entering spring ball is injuries. The Bobcats will be without the services of receivers Brandon Roosevelt and Rick Gatewood, running back Grant Elliott, linebacker Clayton Curley, and defensive tackle Daryl Rogers, all of whom will miss the spring with injuries. Cornerback Eddie Smith, tight end Elliot Barnhart and running back Evin Groves are limited this spring.
