Bobcat Men’s Tennis Squad Runs Win Streak to Nine, Women Get First Big Sky Win

The MSU men’s team, which is ranked No. 65 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, defeated Eastern Washington 6-1, Nevada 4-2, and Montana 7-0, last weekend. With its victories over Eastern Washington and Montana, the Bobcats are 2-0 in Big Sky play.
“We had a very solid weekend against some excellent competition,” said MSU men’s coach Mike Phillips. “We have a very important part of our season coming up, and last weekend really gave us a boost.”
The Montana State women claimed its first Big Sky Conference win of the season with a 6-1 decision over Eastern Washington. The Bobcats also snapped an eight-match losing streak, which featured playing five nationally ranked opponents.
“It was super to get our first league win under our belt,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “We weren’t playing at full strength against Eastern Washington and it was nice to see everyone step up to the challenge.”
The Bobcats men will face Sacramento State, UC Davis and Cal Poly this weekend in California, while the MSU women will play at the Boise State Invitational.
