Cats Get Successful Outdoor Start

Cassie Nollmeyer earned three of Montana State's 17 first place finishes as the Bobcats opened the 2005 outdoor track season at the Montana Open in Missoula on Saturday.
Nollmeyer, who redshirted during the indoor season, won the 100 (13.62), long jump (18-3), and triple jump (35-5.75), while John Voegel won the men's long jump (21-10.75) and triple jump (44-4.25).
Several Bobcats also competed at the Stanford Invitational in California over the weekend. Ashley Jones finished fourth in the hammer throw (174-6), while Kim Berg was fifth in the javelin (153-6) and Hannah Furlong seventh in the shot put (45-1.5). Jones was also 18th in the "B" section of the discus (114-1).
In the men's competition, Josh Henigman was fifth in the hammer (197-9), Leif Arthun sixth (199-2) and Joel Walthall 12th (192-10) in the javelin, Tanner Rauk 10th in the shot put (52-4.75), Jonathan Gibson 11th in the steeple (9:06.95), and Casey Jermyn 26th in the 5000m (14:30.10). In the "B" sections, Tanner Rauk was 13th (154-10) and Brad Sherer 17th (143-11) in the hammer, Henigman first and Rauk 10th in the Discus (151-6), and in section two of the steeple Kevin Clary was seventh (9:08.17).
Other first-place winners in Missoula: Erin Jones in the 100 (15.20), Lindsay Burrington in the 400 hurdles (1:05.18), Ashley Hadway in the 800 (2:25.71) and 1500 (4:52.79), Elouise Rudy in the pole vault (11-6.5), and Lynn Craver in the hammer (163-0). In the men's competition, Dan Johnson won the 400 (49.29), Tony Bachmann the 1500 (4:01.82), Thomas Seeley the pole vault (15-1.5), and Jesse Allen the shot put (52-8.25).
