Ueltschi Named Big Sky Player of the Week

Ueltschi (Welt-she), a junior from Mendoza, Argentina, went 3-0 at the No. 1 singles spot, helping the Bobcats to a 3-0 record on its spring break trip to Texas. Ueltschi topped Southern Methodist’s Gwinyai Chingoka 7-6, 6-4 to help MSU to an upset win over No. 38 SMU.
The victory over the Mustangs was Montana State’s first over a ranked opponent and vaulted the Bobcats to a No. 68 ranking in the ITA poll.
Ueltschi also posted victories over Texas-Arlington’s Sandy Farquharson, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1, and Illinois State’s Luka Marinkovich 6-2, 6-2.
