Bechtold Joins Montana State Athletics Department

Camie Bechtold, an associate commissioner at the Great Lakes Valley Conference, has been named associate athletics director for student and compliance services/senior women’s administrator at Montana State University, announced MSU Athletics Director Peter Fields.
“We had a pool of outstanding candidates, but we felt Camie was the best fit for Montana State University,” Fields said. “She is a very thorough, thoughtful and detail oriented person. Camie impressed everyone that she came in contact with during the interviewing process and we’re excited that she is at Montana State.”
Bechtold served as associate commissioner of the GLVC since 2001, where she oversaw conference and NCAA compliance at member institutions. She also coordinated activities and meetings for the GLVC Student Athlete Advisory Committee as well as assist with conference championship administration.
“I am excited to be part of MSU athletics and the Bozeman community,” Bechtold said. “Student-athlete welfare should be at the heart of collegiate athletics, and I hope to foster and promote MSU’s already strong commitment to the student-athlete.”
A native of Godfrey, Ill., Bechtold served as associate director of athletics at Saint Joseph’s College from 1999-2001. With the Pumas, she was responsible for compliance, game management, fundraising and community outreach programs. In addition, Bechtold served as head women’s soccer coach.
Bechtold received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois, where she led her squad to two NCAA Division II Final Fours. In addition, she was a NSCAA Second Team All-American and was named the 1994-95 College Sports Female Division II Athlete of the Year.
Bechtold holds a master’s degree in education from Purdue University.
She has already started her duties at Montana State.
