Scott Hits Career-High, But Bobcats Fall to Weber State

“The score wasn’t indicative of how close the game was,” said MSU head coach Greg Kudrna. “Hillary Scott had a phenomenal night. They (WSU) won the game at the free throw line.”
Both squads converted 19 field-goals and seven three-pointers, but Weber State (14-6, 5-2) connected on 28-of-34 from the line, while Montana State (7-13, 1-6) hit 15-of-18 from the charity stripe.
“I thought we did a good job of taking Weber State out of their game,” Kudrna said. “We had a couple of mental lapses on offense and one big scoring drought.
“Overall, I’m proud of the way we battled. Now its time to get home,” Kudrna added, referring to MSU’s schedule in which it plays five of seven in Worthington Arena.
Also in double-figures for the Bobcats was Jaimey Tanner, who notched 11 points, including three three-pointers. Tanner got the starting nod as Alyssa Nelson was tending to family matters in Minnesota.
Sophomore Whitney Connolly also started for the Bobcats, replacing Brianna Fields, who was hampered with a leg injury. Connolly, a 6-foot-3 native of Ennis, finished with six points and six rebounds.
MSU’s leading scorer Kati Burrows recorded eight points and four rebounds. The Bobcat bench went scoreless for the game.
After trailing 38-31 at halftime, the Bobcats closed to within 53-51 at the 9:50 mark of the second stanza on a three-point play by Scott. WSU answered with an 18-2 run over the next six minutes to secure the victory.
WSU was led in the win by Becky O’Neil with 24 points.
Montana State will host Montana on Saturday night in Worthington Arena.
