Rejuvenated Jacks Too Much for MSU

Northern Arizona welcomed injured guards DeJuan Stevens and Ceddric Hill back to its lineup on Thursday night, and the product looked much like the team that was in the middle of the Big Sky title chase when the two went down with injuries in January.
Northern Arizona's solid defense, suffocating three-point shooting, and enhanced depth led to an 84-61 Lumberjack win. The loss drops MSU to 8-3 in league play, 13-11 overall. NAU kept its Big Sky tourney hopes alive, climbing to 4-8 in league play.
"There isn't a bright spot I can see," Mick Durham said. "It was just an old-fashioned whipping. Those two guards add a lot."
The outcome didn't appear preordained with 17:14 to play in the second half. At that point, following Ja'Ron Jefferson's three-pointer, the Bobcats trailed just 46-43. NAU answered with a Kyle Feuerbach three-pointer that triggered a 17-0 run that terminated MSU's chances.
"Golob was the key to everything, with his three-pointers," Durham said. "It was just a matter of time before they had a big spurt."
By the time Casey Durham hit a triple with 12:54 to play NAU had built a 20-point cushion, 63-43. The Bobcats got within three on an Al Beye dunk and then a Jefferson jumper with 11 minutes to play, but could get no closer the rest of the way.
The teams played on fairly even terms in the first half. Moss hit a jumper with a minute left to pull MSU within 40-33, which was the margin at the break. MSU shot under 40% in the first half.
The Bobcats scored only two points in the game's final nine minutes until Miller hit a three with 40 seconds left and the game's outcome long since divided. Durr made the outcome final with a late layup.
