“We couldn’t have gotten any closer to a victory,” said MSU head coach Mike Phillips. “We got the doubles point and then had three matches go the distance. Federico (Ueltschi) lost at No. 1 singles to 27th-ranked Shannon Buck in an 11-9 tie-breaker in the third set.”
Montana State opened the match, winning at Nos. 2-3 doubles. MSU’s No. 3 duo of Tejeshwara Chigateri and Jake Berriochoa remained undefeated with an 8-4 victory on Saturday.
The Bobcats also captured victories at Nos. 2 and 4 singles. Chigateri notched his second win of the day with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over AFA’s Chris Dong.
MSU will face Colorado on Sunday afternoon.
