The 411:
The Montana State women’s basketball team will venture out on its first road trip under first-year Bobcat head coach Tricia Binford, when they face Akron on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. (MST) in Rhodes Arena. It will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The Bobcats will conclude their road-trip at Kent State, Saturday, Dec. 3 at 12 p.m. Montana State and Kent State met last winter in Bozeman, with the Golden Flashes winning 56-47.
On The Air:
All Bobcat games can be heard on 103.5 KZMY-FM. Veteran sportscaster Mark Martello will handle play-by-play duties this season. Martello will begin his broadcast with the pregame show beginning 20-minutes prior to tip.

Something will break on Thursday night in Akron as the Zips and Bobcats are both mired in losing streaks. Akron’s current streak stands at 12, losing this season to Dayton, Pittsburgh and Cleveland State. Montana State carries over three losses at the end of last season, with three setbacks in the early part of the 2005-06 campaign... Kent State is coming off a 57-54 win over Elon.
That Was The Week That Was:
The Bobcats hosted the Wingate Inn Thanksgiving Classic last weekend in Worthington Arena. Boise State handed Montana State a 66-52 setback in the opening-round. With the game tied at 28-all at the 3:33 mark of the opening stanza, the Broncos went on an 8-0 run to take a 36-28 lead at intermission. MSU would get no closer than six points the remainder of the game. In the loss, the Bobcats were paced by sophomore Amanda DeHaan with a career-high 13 points on four-of-nine from the field and five-of-five from the free throw line. In addition, the Manhattan Christian graduate guided the Bobcats with a game-high nine rebounds. True freshman Nubia Garcia also contributed to the MSU effort with seven points, six rebounds, four steals and three blocks. In the consolation game, Marquette defeated Montana State 76-48, as the Bobcats were unable to defend the Golden Eagles’ inside game. Garcia led Montana State with a team-high 13 points on six-of-nine from the floor. Also hitting double-figures for the Bobcats was true freshman Jenny Heringer with 12 points on five-of-eight from the field. The Billings Central graduated also recorded a team-high three assists. For the game, MSU shot 42 percent from the field, but was only one-of-14 from long distance.
Stat of the Week:
The ‘Cats are shooting 13 percent from three-point range, connecting on only five-of-39 attempts.
The Scouting Report:
Akron is 0-3 on the year after coming off a tough 62-59 loss to Cleveland State on the Zips home floor. Like the Bobcats, Akron is relying heavily on its freshmen class. Niki McCoy, who made her second start against CSU, recorded 12 points and six rebounds against the Vikings, while Allison Schoff came off the bench and notched a team-high nine points in the Zips loss at Pittsburgh. Head coach Kelly Kennedy is in her fourth year at Akron with the program coming off one of the most successful Mid-American showings in recent years. The Zips are 6th in the MAC preseason polls.
Bobcat Player of the Week:
True-freshman Nubia Garcia averaged 10 points and five rebounds, while shooting 62 percent from the field and 80 percent from the line, last weekend. In addidtion, Garcia averaged two steals and two blocks per game, en route to being named to the Wingate Inn Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament team.
