Bobcat Women Host MSU-Billings in Exhibition Game

The Bobcats dropped a 91-69 decision to Carroll College on Tuesday.
“We’re getting better with each practice,” said MSU first-year head coach Tricia Binford. “We learned a lot about ourselves in the first game and we’re excited for another opportunity to play.”
The Bobcats were paced by Nubia Garcia, Whitney Connolly and Alyssa Nelson with 13 points each against the Saints. Garcia, a 6-foot-2 forward from Orem, Utah connected on five-of-five from the field and three-of-three from the free throw line. In addition, she added a team-high seven rebounds.
“I was happy with our offense and that we were able to put up 69 points,” Binford said. “However, we didn’t get it done defensively, and that’s where I hope to see the most improvement.”
The exhibition game will be the first contest of the year for the Yellowjackets. MSU-Billings posted a 21-7 overall record under first-year head coach Kevin Woodin, last season.
The Yellowjackets return seven letterwinners, including Tanya Petersen, who averaged 15.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Petersen, a six-foot forward, played at Billings West High School.
The game will be Montana State’s last exhibition outing before opening the regular-season against Oregon State on Nov. 18.
