Bobcats Drop Rocky in Exhibition

Al Beye scored 18 points and Marvin Moss added 15 points and grabbed a dozen boards, leading Montana State to an 80-60 exhibition win over Rocky Mountain on Friday.
"I thought this game did what we needed it to do," said MSU coach Mick Durham. "We got to look at a lot of defenses, we looked at a lot of things offensively. We got a lot of things done tonight."
Rocky Mountain held a 6-2 lead after nearly three-and-a-half minutes, largely on the strength of 1-for-7 Bobcat shooting. A jumper and layup by Moss and a layup by Beye fed a 12-0 MSU run, and gave the Bobcats a lead they would never relinquish.
MSU held the Bears to just 34.5% shooting, a feat MSU forward Nick Dissly attributed to the team's athleticism. "Part of (the strong defense) is how athletic we are," he said. "Even if there's a mess-up, we have the athletic ability to cover it up."
After shooting just 46% in the first half, the Bobcats shot 59% after the intermission. The Bobcats hit only six of their 27 three-point attempts. Al Beye had six blocked shots for the 'Cats, along with eight rebounds.
MSU hosts St. Martin's in the team's second exhibition on November 13, before heading to Alaska for the Top of the World Classic November 17.
