The threesome combined for 27 kills and 24 digs to lift the Montana State volleyball team to a 30-26, 30-16, 30-28 victory over Weber State in the final regular-season match for both teams.
Zanto, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker, finished with 11 kills, a .550 attack mark and three blocks. The Helena native didn’t commit a hitting error over the course of three games.
Malyurek finished with her second straight double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs, while Krier chipped in two kills and four digs.
“We played consistent ball over the course of two matches this weekend and that’s exactly what I’ve been looking for all season,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu. “Everyone stepped up to the plate and made a contribution and I couldn’t be happier with our play heading into the conference tournament.”
Montana State (14-14, 7-7) also received a big contribution from freshman Laura Viren, who recorded her second consecutive career-high with 13 kills, while hitting .313 and adding three blocks. Defensively, MSU was led by Kandice Kelly and Patti Anderson with 20 and ten digs, respectively.
Kelly, a junior from Roundup, broke her own school-record for single-season digs in game two against the Wildcats. Kelly’s season total stands at 452 digs, sixteen saves more than last year.
Angela Wiebe led MSU with four blocks, while freshman setter Brittni Sesler dished out 39 assists and added two blocks.
Weber State (11-18, 5-9) was led by Kolbie Murphy with 11 kills and four digs.
