Andrea Hall recorded a game-high 18 points to lead five Carroll College players in double-figures as the Saints posted a 91-69 victory over Montana State, Tuesday night in exhibition play.
“I told our kids to keep their heads up,” said first-year MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “Carroll is a very good team. We now have a starting point, and it’s time to get back onto the practice floor.”
Carroll shot 57 percent from the field and 54 percent from three-point range.
Also in double-digits for the Saints were Carly Syverson 16, Danielle Maloney 16, Jolene Fuzesy 14 and Sophi Forney 10. Carroll also held a 36-27 rebounding advantage, led by Forney with 11.
Montana State had four players in double-figures, led by Whitney Connolly, Alyssa Nelson and Nubia Garcia with 13 points, apiece. Sophomore Amanda DeHaan chipped in the 11 points, while Jenny Heringer finished with nine points and three assists.
Garcia, a freshman from Orem, Utah, ended the game five-of-five from the field and three-of-three from the free throw line, while adding a team-high seven rebounds.
“There definitely were some positives,” Binford said. “I thought our freshmen played very well for their first collegiate game. I also liked the fact that, offensively, we did a good job.”
MSU shot 47 percent from the field and was 13-of-15 from three-point range.
