Binford, who was named Montana State’s 11th head coach in April, welcomes ten players to the 2005-06 roster. MSU returns two starters from last year’s 9-18 squad. Alyssa Nelson averaged 7.9 points and 2.8 rebounds, while Scotta Morton chipped 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds.
Binford will also look to 6-foot-3 center Whitney Connolly for scoring and rebounding punch, along with forwards Amanda DeHaan, Katy Proietti and Erin Goodman.
Four freshmen will also make their debut for the Bobcats, led by Montana Gatorade Player of the Year Jenny Heringer, along with Anne Phippard, Nubia Garcia and Shannon Bosley.
The Bobcats were dealt a blow last week, as backup point-guard Brandie Buckless (Whitefish) suffered an ACL tear in the right knee. She will be out the entire season.
“As with any coach at this point in the season, we are looking to play someone other than ourselves,” Binford said. “This will be a good game to evaluate where we are, and where we need to go.”
Carroll College enters with three wins under its belt, all coming against Canadian teams by an average of 45 points per game.
"Carroll is a very good team," Binford said. "They have excellent talent and some veteran players."
The game will be carried live in the Bozeman area on My 103.5 FM. Due to technical matters, the game will not be carried on www.msubobcats.com or www.SportsJuice.com.
