Stonehouse Hits Career-High as Bobcats Sweep Season Series

Montana State junior Kim Stonehouse recorded a career-high 24 kills as the Bobcats posted a 28-30, 30-28, 30-25, 30-22 victory over Montana, Thursday night.
“We did a great job with our response in terms of the last match we played,” said third-year head coach Miya Malauulu. “It seemed everyone was keyed into what we needed to do. They did a great job communicating, and stayed patient with the system.”
Montana State (11-12, 5-5) also received double-digit kills from Meggie Malyurek with 18 and Raelene Purnell 13. For the game, MSU out-hit Montana .194 to .151, and also held advantages in service aces and block assists.
Defensively, the Bobcats had four players in double-figure digs led by Kandice Kelly with a team-high 24 saves, while Malyurek added 18, Stonehouse 16 and Patti Anderson 13. Anderson also notched a team-high three aces and five blocks.
“I thought our setters did a nice job distributing the ball,” Malauulu said. “And, our hitters took advantage. It was a great team effort.”
Montana (12-12, 2-8) was paced by Claudia Houle with 14 kills and 23 digs.
MSU will host North Dakota State on Saturday night.
