Montana State Women Down Grizzlies, Men Sweep Utah State

The two squads played a different format with four singles matches and one doubles contest. A player couldn’t play twice in the match.
“The format really created an exciting atmosphere,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “Our freshmen were tough. We needed them to come through for us, and they both battled back from being down one set. It was a super effort.”
Montana struck early taking a 2-0 lead in the match, after winning the doubles point and No. 3 singles. MSU sophomore Remy Clark swept Montana’s Colby Fannin 6-1, 6-2, before Nuria Lozano rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Cheyne Ursich 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2 singles. Luetolf’s victory completed the come-back.
The Bobcats will play four matches in the San Francisco area next week.
The Montana State men’s team claimed its first win of the season with a 7-0 sweep of Utah State, Saturday night in Logan.
The Bobcat swept Nos. 1-4 singles in straight sets, and claimed No. 5-6 in three sets. Montana State (1-1) also won all three doubles matches to claim the opening point.
