Bobcats Fall at Portland State

Portland State reclaimed first place in the Big Sky Conference with a 68-51 win over Montana State as most of the Big Sky Conference reached the league season's mid-point on Saturday.
Portland State's win snaps an eight-game Bobcat winning streak in the series, and raises the Vikings' record to 6-2 in Big Sky play. MSU is a half-game back at 5-2. PSU's 14-6 overall record ensures the team's first non-losing season since 2000.
Senior forward Seamus Boxley led the Vikings with 22 points, six rebounds, two steals, and a blocked shot. Antone Jarrell added 11 points and nine rebounds, and figured in the game's key moment. He and Blake Walker each had dunks in a 13-2 Viking run early in the second half that increased PSU's lead to 51-38 after MSU had pulled to within two.
Marvin Moss had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the 'Cats, his third double-double of the season. The Bobcats held Portland State, the Big Sky's best-shooting team, to 43% from the floor, but managed to shoot just 35%. Bobcat guards Branden Miller and Ja'Ron Jefferson combined to shoot 0-for-10 from three-point range.
After playing five of their first seven Big Sky games on the road, MSU returns home five times in the last seven games. The second half begins Thursday night, when Idaho State plays at MSU. Portland State travels to Northern Arizona on Thursday.
